FAQ

If we learn to cope too well
with what needs to change, it won’t change.

What is stamina?

As Zac defines it for this work, stamina is

  • the mental & physical ability
  • to sustain your effort
  • at your desired intensity
  • & still feel like yourself

How is stamina different from resilience?

Resilience has been the topic of lots of other work, some of which are very helpful to people. But the cartoon critique of resilience is how long you can bang your head against a wall and bounce back. Zac is in interested in your effort away from that wall. Stamina is interested in you bouncing forward, as yourself, not bouncing forward like a machine or a video game soldier.

An ER doc Zac knows told him how mad she got when her company offered them all resilience training. “How do you think I got this far?! You think I need to be MORE resilient? How about we change some things around here so I can stop having to be so bleeping resilient?!”

Spoiler Alert: caring for our stamina does involve making structural changes — individually and collectively.

How do you grow your stamina?

Zac leads interactive workshops and gives well-received keynotes on precisely this. It’s concrete, fun, respects the (hard-won) wisdom you already have, and relies on both the individual and the collective. You won’t regret it.

Do you do online or in person work?

Both. Wherever your team is, Zac can be. There are pros and cons to each, and there are innovative ways to make each work.

What do people say about these trainings?

  • “was exactly what I needed to hear, in a way I could actually hear it”
  • “felt like he was talking to just me”
  • “content organization was fantastic”
  • “stories brought it all to life”
  • “digestible … engaging … legit”
  • “I’m exited to share what I learned with my team!”
